Many team members are in recovery themselves, which makes the conversations very relaxed and open, as they have been in the same spot you or your loved one is in and know exactly how it feels.
Read on to learn more about what you can expect with each phase of the admissions process, from your initial assessment to your arrival at our facility in Thailand.
Free Assessment calls
During these calls, you will cover a broad range of topics, and in most cases they generally take 15 to 20 minutes to complete.
The Admissions Manager may ask the following questions during your initial phone calls:
If you get approved for admission to our rehab in Thailand, it's because we believe that the program will be your best chance to fully overcome your addiction, as well as achieve the goals you have for the rest of your life.
Admissions Process at a Glance
At The Airport
You will be personally picked up off the tarmac and brought through a special immigration lane. The fast track concierge will bring you directly to our waiting car & you'll have a short 10 minute drive to the Miracles Asia facility.
On Arrival
When you arrive at Miracles Asia, our staff will review some paperwork with you, show you around the facility and help you settle in.
If you were to arrive very drunk, the Clinical Team may feel that you need medically supervised detox; you might spend your first night or two in one of our partner hospitals, where their medical teams will ensure you're stable and comfortable.
Our staff members will remain with you during this time.
Preparing for Rehab
However, it's up to you to decide whether to tell them or keep your privacy and explain that you'll be away for a while. You can ask for help watching your home or assisting with your finances by letting others know.
Asking for help is a great way to involve people you care about in your significant change, as they won't necessarily be present throughout your rehabilitation. Finally, tie up any loose ends at home. Prepare everything for your absence, including ensuring that any utilities, rent, and loans are covered.
If necessary, alert your landlord or neighbors that you will be away for an extended time. Also, you should find trustworthy care or boarding for your pets and plants.
Accepting the situation
Outline on paper or mentally rehearse your goals for yourself. What do you hope to gain from treatment? Is there anything that you are not willing to do for your recovery?
Don't get too worried if you feel very anxious and overwhelmed. These feelings are too expected & are more common than you think. Instead, try to acknowledge your anxiety, sit with it for a while, and then continue to move forward, knowing there's nothing wrong with that.
Invite change
Admission to an addiction treatment center requires you to put your heart into it and sincerely desire the change it will bring, even if it means letting go of your old ways of dealing with life in a new way.
Keep your expectations in check
Checking Into Rehab
Although all rehab centers vary regarding things you can and can't bring with you, many everyday items are not allowed. The following should be left behind unless you are explicitly told otherwise by a staff member at your chosen rehab center:
What To Bring With You
You must provide a detailed list of current medications to the Admissions team during your assessment calls before arrival. Any medication must include a prescription from your local doctor. The clinical team will keep it safely stored and provide it when necessary.
Depending on the type and volume of medication you are currently taking, the Psychiatrist at Miracles Asia may need to review your existing prescriptions to ensure the treatment you receive is optimal. This consultation does incur additional costs.
Objects such as photos, books, or journals are a great way to stay motivated and focused on your goals during your stay with us.
Phuket is a tropical island, so every location you visit outside of the rehab center is very laid-back. Most people wear shorts, T-Shirts, and Polo style shirts. We suggest you bring loose-fitting clothing to be as comfortable as possible.
It is customary in Thailand not to wear your shoes inside. Around the facility, you will be most comfortable wearing toe sandals or flip-flops.
What you typically wear to the gym or regular exercise is okay for your three weekly visits to Thaiyapura.
The facility has an Olympic swimming pool, tennis courts, free weights, cardio machines, wet and dry sauna, and hot and cold plunge pools. In addition, there is a shop onsite to purchase extra clothing.
There may be limitations on what you can bring on your flight to Thailand. However, there are plenty of local options to purchase these during your first week.
You can bring your smartphone, iPad, and laptop so you can remain in touch with friends and family during your stay. As most of our guests are business owners or high-level executives, we understand that time to be still able to function online is important.
You will need cash for snacks, soft drinks, cigarettes, or vapes. Generally, most guests can get by very comfortably with $35-$50 per week as the cost of living in Thailand is much lower to Western countries.
