We are dedicated to providing you with safe, secure, enjoyable and memorable experiences during your stay with Miracles Asia in Phuket, Thailand

The Islands History

Phuket is arguably one of the most popular and scenic places in Thailand, if not, South East Asia. It is an island surrounded by natural beauty; lush, green jungle afoot pristine blue waters and sandy beaches, the landscapes.

The Thai people enjoy warm weather year round, and an easy going lifestyle. A perfect spot for recovery. Phuket is approximately 900 kilometres south of Bangkok and covers an area of 543 square kilometres (210 SQ Miles). The island’s length, from north to south, is 48 kilometers (30 Miles) and its width is 21 kilometers (13 Miles).

Somewhat smaller than Singapore, and is the second-smallest province of Thailand. The island was originally on one of the major trading routes between India and China, and was frequently mentioned in foreign ships’ logs of Portuguese, French, Dutch, and English traders, but was never colonized by a European power.

There is an extensive history of mining, farming and even combat before it become one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world. Seventy percent of Phuket’s area is covered with mountains, which stretch from north to south. The remaining 30 percent are plains in the central and eastern parts of the island.

Over 30 Stunning Beaches

Phuket is known for its outstanding beaches, probably more than anything else. With over 30 of them around the island, there’s a wide variety to choose from. Each week there are group meetings you will attend that are held right on beautiful Bang Tao beach.

Phuket beaches have beautiful soft sand, nodding palm trees, clean waters with a soft seabed, good surfing in the low season and snorkeling in the high season, and a fantastic laid-back atmosphere. You will see the colorful and iconic long-tail boats moored at the beaches as you enjoy delicious seafood and authentic local cuisine.

Location And Climate

Phuket is the largest island in Thailand and is southern province on the Andaman Sea. The island is mostly mountainous with a mountain range in the west of the island from the north to the south. Phuket features a tropical monsoon climate which is due to its proximity to the equator, in the year, there is little variation in temperatures.

The island has an average annual high of 32 °C (90 °F) and an annual low of 25 °C (77 °F).

Phuket has a dry season that runs from December to March and a wet season that covers the remaining eight months. However, like many islands that feature a tropical monsoon climate, Phuket sees some precipitation even during its dry season.

As with most of Thailand, the majority of the population is Buddhist, but there is a significant number of Muslims (20 percent) in Phuket, mainly descendants of the island’s original sea-dwelling people. People of Chinese ancestry make up an even larger population, many of whom are descendants of the tin miners who migrated to Phuket during the 19th Centaury.

For those who haven’t previously spent time traveling in Asia, Thailand is an amazing destination to begin with. Aptly nicknamed ‘The land of smiles’ you will notice the friendly, welcoming nature of Thai people the moment you arrive at the airport.

During your residential rehab program you will have the chance to visit a variety of cultural sites including temples and national parks, and also partake in traditional Thai practices such as Muai Thai (Thai boxing) and Buddhist-style meditation with Thai monks.

Being able to engage in these sort of ‘once in a lifetime opportunities’ in the beginning of your recovery journey is truly a unique and fulfilling experience that serves as the perfect launch to a future of health, happiness, and sobriety.
